Exciting new dance school debuts in our area

With an impressive track record dancing with the likes of The Spice Girls, Miss Hope is opening  a vibrant new dance school to share her dancing experience with local children

A new dance school opening this month in Selsdon promises to offer a fantastic mix of dance tuition based on the principal's amazing repertoire of professional experience.

Hope School of Dance, which opens in Selsdon, South Croydon on 26th Jaunary, will by run by   Hope Davis (aka Miss Hope) who has danced with the Spice Girls, on Top of the Pops and modelled for over 100 magazines across the world and appeared on TV shows.

Future stars
Now a retired dancer, Miss Hope, who is also a a classically trained ballet dancer, is happy to pass on her knowledge and skills to the next generation of future stars. 

"I would love to share my skills and knowledge," says Miss Hope, who has been teaching dance in primary and secondary schools over 10 years (most recently at Our Lady of Muswell Hill primary school).

Miss Hope holds qualifications with BTDA and teaches classes for children aged 3-16 in all styles of dance. Classes in ballet, tap, modern jazz, street dance, drama and modelling based on the British Theatre Dance Association syllabus will be offered at the new school. 

"Focus will be placed on achieving excellence," says Miss Hope. "However having fun and enjoying the process will be a top priority!"

Hope School of Dance will also offer classes specifically for children with special needs. "I  had lots of success teaching children with autism in primary schools," explains Miss Hope. "The children really enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. I'm thrilled to be able to offer this service to for autistic children."

History of dance
Miss Hope, who has been dancing since the age of four, began her training in freestyle disco winning hundreds of trophies and championships as a dancer. She then won a full scholarship to train  at the prestigious Urdang Academy of Ballet and Performing Arts in London under the late Miss Leonie Urdang. 

She continued her training with the previous Royal Ballet Principal Ballerina, Christina Hughes. She also took part in training with Dance Theater of Harlem (New York ballet company) and  summer schools with various ballet companies from the UK.

Miss Hope has worked with famous choreographers such as Bruno Toniloni (Strictly Come Dancing), Darrin Henson (Britney Spears choreographer) and many more and has danced in over 20 pop videos including backing dancing for the Spice Girls Number 1 hit ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ 

She has performed on MTV, ITV, Channel 4, Living TV, Sky TV and the BBC's Tops of the Pops and Live and Kicking. As a multi-talented performer Miss Hope has worked on  TV commercials, TV shows and live performances in the Royal Albert Hall. 

Miss Hope also won the Woman of  Wisdom award 2009 and was quoted by Cosmopolitan magazine's editor as a 'woman to watch'. 

Miss Hope has taught dance for over 10 years and is a member of the British Theatre Dance Association (BTDA). All teachers at Hope School of Dance are CRB checked, First Aid qualified, fully insured and registered with the BTDA.

"I am so excited about the opening of the school," says Miss Hope. "I'm also really excited to offer opportunities to children with autism as I have seen very positive results and they have tons of fun too!"

"I have lots in store for the classes with fun music and props and free giveaways too," adds Miss Hope. "I am offering a free goodybag for the first 10 who register and the first class is always free."
