Local Mum Kathryn Vincent runs her own bookkeeping business where she uses her experience and skills to provide a service to businesses while being available for her kids when needed
Local Mum Kathryn Vincent set up her Sutton-based bookkeeping business Long White Cloud Accounting Ltd (LWC) to give her the flexibility to fit her successful accounting career around her children.
"My ‘why' in running my own business is about having a career and using my qualifications, experience and skills to provide a service to businesses where I can really help them but also being able to be available for school runs etc,” explains Kathryn.
Kathryn works from her home office (a converted garage) and employs other Local Mums who work from home where they’re set up with a desk, chair and computer equipment.
Flexibility
"We meet up regularly in Sutton where we rent a meeting room,” says Kathryn. "But mainly we’re online with a wider UK-based team of subcontractors providing admin, bookkeeping and accounting support. We work school hours and do school runs. In the school holidays we work flexibly to fit around childcare."
“LWC serves businesses who need finance support but aren’t ready to employ someone or more importantly want a little bit of a Bookkeeper, a little bit of admin, someone to do their VAT Returns properly,” explains Kathryn. “They also want someone to support with the big picture like a Finance Manager looking at monthly reporting and system improvements.”
LWC was founded by Kathryn in 2021 with a mission to get the most out of life, whether personally or professionally. The name Long White Cloud comes from Kathryn’s New Zealand background. "It was the name given to the North Island of New Zealand when the Maori navigators first saw signs of land,” adds Kathryn.
